Welcome to our Soofi (Sovereign Open Source Foundation Models) Repository!
Soofi is a German research project that was launched in September 2025 and is funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy. The aim is to develop an open, sovereign European ensemble of large language and reasoning models (LLMs/LRMs) and agent-based systems that are powerful, transparent, and deployable on European cloud and edge infrastructures. In addition, initial practical use cases are to be tested in order to enable transfer to real-world contexts. The project is supported by a joint consortium of research institutes, universities, and start-ups:
