kpcyrd
Hi! I identify as a hacker who's developing opensource software and doing security research. I'm proficient in rust and interested in networks, crypto, memory safety and backdoor resistant software distribution.
Opensource became an essential part of my life at some point, I started relying heavily on free software in the past when I couldn't afford paid software and I'm trying to contribute back to the people who can't afford paid software today.
What I'm Involved In
- Arch Linux - Maintainer since 2019, mostly packaging tools for rust development, security and privacy.
- Debian - Maintainer since 2018, involved in bootstrapping and maintaining the rust ecosystem that started shipping with buster.
- Alpine - External maintainer since 2018.
- Reproducible Builds - Involved since 2017, focusing on reproducible Arch Linux, Rust and Alpine.
What I'm Working On
- Multiple hacking/debugging tools like sn0int, sniffglue, authoscope, rshijack, brchd.
- Security tools (some of them slightly research-y) like rebuilderd, pacman-bintrans, arch-audit-gtk, ismyarchverifiedyet.
- DevOps-y tools like acme-redirect.
- Documentation like i-probably-didnt-backdoor-this.
What Sponsorship Does
Pretty much all opensource work I do happens on top of my dayjobs that I need to keep the lights on. Sponsoring allows me to dedicate more time to my opensource work. Being able to pay some of my expenses with github sponsoring means a lot to me (all expenses for my cat are already covered by github sponsors!). I'm still pretty far away from giving up my dayjobs and working on opensource exclusively, but I'm looking forward to that happening one day.
