This proposal describe how to load configurations for different environments. This is useful for to write configuration options for development and productions environments.

By default, Spress will generate your site for the development environment (dev) using the file config.yml. If you want to generate your site using another configuration environment like production you can to create a file called config_prod.yml with the options that will be overrided in config.yml

The hierarchy of files

  • config.yml (mandatory)
  • config_{environment-name}.yml (optional)

At the first time Spress will load the config.yml file. Then if you are using environment configuration, Spress will load the environment configuration file.

Dev environment
Spress will load only config.yml if --env option have dev value.

How to set the evironment in command line?
To enable the environment, you need to use --env={environment-name} option:
$ spress site:build --env=prod

At the before example, Spress try to load a file called config_prod.yml.
