Spring Data Support for JDO would make some of the benefits of JDO available through Spring JDO including:

  • Configurable Fetch Groups
  • Typesafe Query DSL

While you could contemplate supporting QueryDSL, more logical would be to support JDO-proposed typesafe query capability (proof of concept present in DataNucleus), as documented at
http://www.datanucleus.org/products/accessplatform/jdo/jdoql_typesafe.html

If there is interest in the various voters/watchers to contribute code to this effort, I can create a spring-data-jdo project on github and seed it with a minimal build/package infrastructure along with jira, CI etc.

anyone interested in helping out?

@Mark, I think that by copying the Spring Data JPA code, you'd be quite a way toward being done. JPA is, to a large degree, a functional subset of JDO. I wish I could fully commit to doing this, but I just don't have the time. I would be willing to help out where I can, though

@Andy, I wonder whether the typesafe query portion of Spring Data JDO could be selectable by the user. @Mark, is the typesafe query stuff pluggable? Then users could have their choice of QueryDsl or the as-yet-to-be-standardized JDO typesafe query feature that is DataNucleus now

I'll close this as won't fix as the Spring Data Commons tracker is not the right place for this kind of requests. There's an established path to start Spring Data projects nowadays with the rise of community modules. So if there's enough interest in a JDO module for Spring Data, we'll see the community start one and nuture it
