Possible use cases:

  • JDK 8's Optional (to transparently handle null values), might require us to build and run tests with JDK 8.
  • Guava's Optional (see above).
  • Future in combination with @Async

Added support for both Google Guava and JDK 8's Optional. See an example of the JDK version in our samples repo

We ran into issues with Spring Framework when implementing the support for Future<T>, hence the progress for that is tracked in DATACMNS-489
