Most of the Spring Framework supplies the latest version of the namespace XSDs on the website both with and without a version, the versionless ones being copies of the most recent production versions. Spring Data and its subprojects don't appear to be doing that.

For example, listing http://www.springframework.org/schema/context/ yields:

Index of /schema/context

Parent Directory
spring-context-2.5.xsd
spring-context-3.0.xsd
spring-context-3.1.xsd
spring-context-3.2.xsd
spring-context.xsd
Apache/2.2.3 (CentOS) Server at www.springframework.org Port 80

but listing http://www.springframework.org/schema/data/mongo/ yields:

Index of /schema/data/mongo

Parent Directory
spring-mongo-1.0.xsd
spring-mongo-1.1.xsd
Apache/2.2.3 (CentOS) Server at www.springframework.org Port 80

In the first listing, the Spring context namespace contains a versionless schema that is the same as version 3.2.

In the second listing, Spring Data Mongo doesn't offer a versionless schema

Affects: 1.2 GA

Just realized I accidentally filed this under DATAJPA when it applies to all Spring Data projects. Please move issue there

This is the error showing up in STS 3.1.0.RELEASE. Its root cause appears to be the missing versionless Spring Data schema that supposed to be at
http://www.springframework.org/schema/data/repository/spring-repository.xsd

See value at xpath /xsd:schema/xsd:import/@schemaLocation in http://www.springframework.org/schema/data/mongo/spring-mongo-1.1.xsd

We're currently reworking our build and distribution process and it appears the autogenerated symlink creation hasn't kicked off. Should be fixed by now
