Currently, there is no way to check that a particular JavaMailSender instance is "alive" (that is it could connect to the SMTP server successfully. There is now a health check in boot for mail that had to copy some protected method around in the meantime.

Added a testConnection method that validates a Transport instance can be acquired properly.
