Warning Message

[main] WARN o.h.i.SessionFactoryImpl - HHH000008: JTASessionContext being used with JDBCTransactionFactory; auto-flush will not operate correctly with getCurrentSession()

Description

I'm using Spring Test and Spring ORM to write Hibernate-based tests.

Code

I'm basically using the code from http://www.baeldung.com/2011/12/13/the-persistence-layer-with-spring-3-1-and-jpa/#javaconfig.

Basically,

   @Bean
    public LocalContainerEntityManagerFactoryBean entityManagerFactory() {
        LocalContainerEntityManagerFactoryBean em = new LocalContainerEntityManagerFactoryBean();
        em.setDataSource(dataSource());
        em.setPackagesToScan(this.packages);

        JpaVendorAdapter vendorAdapter = new HibernateJpaVendorAdapter();
        em.setJpaVendorAdapter(vendorAdapter);
        em.setJpaProperties(additionalProperties());

        return em;
    }

    @Bean
    public DataSource dataSource() {
        DriverManagerDataSource dataSource = new DriverManagerDataSource();

	dataSource.setDriverClassName(driverClassName);
        dataSource.setUrl(url);

        dataSource.setUsername(username);
        dataSource.setPassword(password);

        return dataSource;
    }

    @Bean
    public JdbcTemplate jdbcTemplate() {
        return new JdbcTemplate(dataSource());
    }

    @Bean
    public SimpleJdbcInsert simpleJdbcInsert() {
        return new SimpleJdbcInsert(dataSource());
    }

    @Bean
    public PlatformTransactionManager transactionManager(EntityManagerFactory emf) {
        JpaTransactionManager transactionManager = new JpaTransactionManager();
        transactionManager.setEntityManagerFactory(emf);

        return transactionManager;
    }

    @Bean
    public PersistenceExceptionTranslationPostProcessor exceptionTranslation() {
        return new PersistenceExceptionTranslationPostProcessor();
    }

I get this error if I use a HibernateTransactionManager instead of a JpaTransactionManager, too.

I didn't get this error with Hibernate 4.2.0.CR1.

P.S. I tried to assign this to the Spring ORM project, but that doesn't seem to exist.

This is the Hibernate code inside SessionFactoryImpl that causes this error. It's assuming that it's in a JTA environment, and then because transactionFactory().compatibleWithJtaSynchronization() returns false, it logs an error.

private CurrentSessionContext buildCurrentSessionContext() {
		String impl = properties.getProperty( Environment.CURRENT_SESSION_CONTEXT_CLASS );
		// for backward-compatibility
		if ( impl == null ) {
			if ( canAccessTransactionManager() ) {
				impl = "jta";
			}
			else {
				return null;
			}
		}

		if ( "jta".equals( impl ) ) {
			if ( ! transactionFactory().compatibleWithJtaSynchronization() ) {
				LOG.autoFlushWillNotWork();
			}
			return new JTASessionContext( this );
		}
		else if ( "thread".equals( impl ) ) {
			return new ThreadLocalSessionContext( this );
		}
		else if ( "managed".equals( impl ) ) {
			return new ManagedSessionContext( this );
		}
		else {
			try {
				Class implClass = serviceRegistry.getService( ClassLoaderService.class ).classForName( impl );
				return ( CurrentSessionContext ) implClass
						.getConstructor( new Class[] { SessionFactoryImplementor.class } )
						.newInstance( this );
			}
			catch( Throwable t ) {
				LOG.unableToConstructCurrentSessionContext( impl, t );
				return null;
			}
		}
	}
