I'm also in favor of a Gradle 4.2 baseline for Spring Framework 5.0.x. It'd be great to get some confidence upfront though... or maybe we should wait until 5.0.1 on our end?

We're on Gradle 4.2.1 for our Spring Framework 5.0.1 release now. We might upgrade to Gradle 4.3/4.4 later in our 5.0.x line still, or possibly just for 5.1.
