Rossen Stoyanchev opened SPR-16588 and commented

StandardEvaluationContext provides more options than are actually required for many common uses cases (e.g. data binding expressions, property based filters, etc) where the goal is to provide a little extra flexibility but not necessarily expose the full extent of the SpEL language. Arguably there should be a more basic EvaluationContext that meaningfully restricts the SpEL language and the set of relevant configuration options to what is relevant for those scenarios, optimizing guidance and SpEL resolution performance for the particular scenario.

Affects: 4.3.14, 5.0.4
