Juergen Hoeller opened SPR-17116 and commented

SchedulingTaskExecutor is effectively a marker interface its implementations typically implement prefersShortLivedTasks() to always return true, with callers assuming false for regular TaskExecutor implementations. Let's make this clearer and more convenient by introducing a corresponding default method.
