For a WS client, WebServiceMessageCallback allows setting the SoapAction http header, but no others. This seems like an ideal place to add a method like addHeader(String name, String value) to SoapMessage. See related forum entry for a quick and dirty workaround using AxiomMessage.

I'm not sure if the same functionality would be needed for the responsing server, but may be useful there as well.

It would be awesome if I can specify header also as a Jaxb2 object the same way as request/response is handled.

You can access the underlying transport (i.e. HTTP) with the TransportContext: http://static.springsource.org/spring-ws/site/reference/html/common.html#transport-context
