Cannot connect to the debugger when using a device #33

@brspurri

Hi there,

I've seen two issues related to this in this forum, but both 'resolutions' don't seem to be helping.

I am using PonyDebugger - and it works fantastically in the Simulator. However, when I move to debug on the device, I get a console output of "Debugger Failed". Stepping into this, the exact error is:

Error Domain=NSPOSIXErrorDomain Code=61 "The operation couldn’t be completed. Connection refused

I had started ponyd using the command ponyd serve --listen-interface=0.0.0.0, and the accepted all incoming connections after I was prompted.

I've cleaned my project, deleted it from my phone, and every combination I can think of.

Does anyone have any ideas??? I'm at a loss.

Cheers,
Brett

In your console write ifconfig and get the ip address of your network interface. Then start ponyd with that ip:
ponyd serve --listen-interface=192.168.1.7 (in my case)

In your iOS app when also change the following line to match your computers ip address
[debugger connectToURL:[NSURL URLWithString:@"ws://192.168.1.7:9000/device"]];

Also make sure that your device is on the same network as your computer.

@andue

as an alternative you could also use

ponyd serve --listen-interface=$(ipconfig getifaddr en0)

That is the trick. Make sure to put real device on WIFI. For some reason I kept thinking it would connect via the USB cable.

@askhogan

Put real device on same WIFI or same network as@mmdumi commented
