Could e.g. be shown by clicking a help icon or when hovering over the option.

ipywidgets>=8 implements tooltip= option on all widgets that should be used for this.

Ground work in updating the schemas is done. Tooltips are shown for string, bool and enumeration values. Number input tooltips have not been implemented in ipywidgets - I am in the process of reporting that.

Not much we can currently do about the partial support in ipywidgets. Closing as wont fix.
