Although this may be outside the realm of the project (as it may require a dynamic webserver in addition to DNS), it would be nice if the xip.io could use the remote address of a connecting user to form a web server link.

I am thinking the following flow:

  1. Developer wants to expose their "badger" app to a customer

    (Developer is at

  2. Developer changes the URL from badger.dev to badger.xip.io

  3. badger.xip.io resolves to a dynamic web server

  4. dynamic web server looks at Host and remote address of developer under the assumption that is a legitimate address. Displays a message like:

xip.io pages must have a numerical IP address in them to work.
Redirecting you to your public address at via
    in 3 seconds.

If this does not work, you may be behind a firewall that does not allow access via your internet IP

  5. Developer sees a working site with the public address
