By the by, I was on a flight yesterday, and doing some offline work in a locally served dev environment, and saw this when I went to view the Control Panel. Bug?

not really (edited)

the CP calls home

part of the license check

thought about that w/r/t dev mode the other day…

I understand the need to call home for licence checking, but 1) can’t there be a grace period if the licence’s been confirmed in the last 24 hours (there may be reasons why not), 2) wouldn’t a message saying what’s happened, and what the remedy is, be better than “Whoops, it looks like something went wrong”?

or skipping that check if the domain is `.dev`

Not a biggie - I don’t fly that often. But it kind of caught me at an awkward moment when there wasn’t anything I could do to remedy it.

yeah i'm sure we can do something better

@jackmcdade jackmcdade changed the title from Improve dev workflow: avoid throwing curl errors during license validation on dev/local domains to Improve dev offline workflow Mar 17, 2017
