The current ordering of examples on the TOC page for the examples looks a bit random.

I think we can reorder them in run_all.py

But I think we should also switch to inserting the example links into a templated rst file that has a bit more text.
(I haven't looked yet how this is currently handled.)

related: we should find a way to test the examples as part of the doc build.
Maybe, just execute run_all.py and catch exceptions.
