Inline (ghost) Auto Completion Suggestions

The popup autocompletion can sometimes be obtrusive, distracting and slow down typing to the point that some users just prefer to disable it.

Inline auto completion would be an optional auto completion preference. It would show inline, the result of pressing the tab key (or whatever shortcut the user has configured).

Inline and popup autocompletion modes would not be mutually exclusive. Both could be enabled at the same time, or just one of them.

Sublime Text 4 implements the mini_auto_complete to exactly support that. It can be enabled via "mini_auto_complete": true in the Preferences.sublime-settings.

In case the core devs decide to keep that feature, this request is fulfilled.

@jps (2019-12-02): Easter egg for the morning: there's a hidden setting in S4, mini_auto_complete, that when true, will show the best completion using a phantom rather than a popup. There are a few wonky corner cases with it, so the code is probably going to get deleted, but it's pretty cool to play with.

This is a wontfix. mini_auto_complete has various usability problems inherit to this approach. It works alright for terminals, but not for a text auto-complete.

@BenjaminSchaaf This is working fine for me in ST4. Are you planning to remove it? Currently this is the best solution (AFAIK) to the problem that ST4 removed one-key tab-completion without a popup menu

There's no plan to remove it, though if a future change makes it too much effort to keep we'd likely drop it.
