Save dialog sometimes doesn’t default to the folder I right-clicked

Description of the bug

When I right-click a folder in the sidebar, choose “New File,” and then press Ctrl+S to save, the save dialog usually defaults to the folder I right-clicked. However, sometimes the default path is not that folder. I think this is a bug.

I want the save dialog to always default to the folder I right-clicked whenever I create a new file from the sidebar and press Ctrl+S. Can this be fixed?

Steps to reproduce

right-click a folder in the sidebar

Expected behavior

the save dialog defaults to the folder I right-clicked

Actual behavior

sometimes the default path is not that folder.

I don't see how it's possible for this to misbehave. The new_file_at command sets the "default_dir" setting on the new file, which is used when the save file dialog is opened. This setting is not set by anything else.

Perhaps you have a plugin/package that's overriding the default behavior. Does it happen in safe mode?
