Either the 'encoding' property on the BufferList instance, or the final parameter to 'take()' can be used to specify the desired encoding. If both of these are 'undefined', then 'take()' will return a Buffer instead of a String. This is likely a compatibility-breaking change.
It should return a Buffer instance whenever no encoding is specified either as the last argument to 'take()', or as the 'encoding' property on the BufferList instance. Otherwise it should return a String of the desired encoding.
