steps to reproduce

  1. I input text in the summernote text box it saves and display fine.
  2. When in my Laravel5.1 application I go to update the paragraph text any place with an apostrophe after it saves back into the database it added a backwards slash in front.
  3. $(document).ready(function() { $('#summernote').summernote({ height: 300, // set editor height minHeight: null, // set minimum height of editor maxHeight: null, // set maximum height of editor focus: false, // set focus to editable area after initializin fontNames: ['Raleway'] }); var text = $('#paragraph1').val(); var markupStr = $('#summernote').summernote('code', text); $('.container').click(function(event){ var markupStr = $('#summernote').summernote('code'); $('input[name="cParagraph"]').val(markupStr); });

Sounds to me like an issue with your PHP config and not Summernote, specifically it would appear you have magic quotes enabled. Make sure you disable them.
