Hi all,

I'm having a somewhat irritating issue with 3.6 beta 2 on Mac OS X Lion. On opening SuperCollider the empty Help Browser appears in the bottom pane. 9 times out of 10 I want to see the post window, so I switch to that. In the meantime Help is loading slowly in the background, and when it completes it switches focus back to itself, taking over from the post window.

IMO, in the first place the post window should be the default pane, as probably the first thing most users will want to do is write code. The help should load in the background in the other pane, then when you want it, it's there.

Maybe it's also partly a speed issue. In general loading of the lang seems slower than in 3.6 beta 1 (initial post window messages appear more slowly).

Cheers,
Graham

Last window state is saved when quitting IDE, so HelpBrowser will only show and start loading on startup if it was not closed when last quitting.

It might be an issue though that when you have HelpBrowser and PostWindow stacked one on top of another in the same dock area, HelpBrowser always comes to front regardless of z-order when quitting. This should be solved.

The default layout on first-ever startup on a particular machine has both HelpBrowser and PostWindow visible, side-by-side (vertically) at the right edge of main window.

Maybe it's also partly a speed issue. In general loading of the lang seems slower than in 3.6 beta 1 (initial post window messages appear more slowly).

The auto-help-loading adds a lot to the startup time. Aside from that, the difference in plain sclang startup time might be because the beta version was compiled in debug mode, i.e. not using maximum optimization.

Now fixed.
