To be fair, this doesn't have to be a typo. This kind of notation is valid in most contexts and accepted by many programs that accept CIDR notation. For example, 10/8 is the same as 10.0.0.0/8, and a lot shorter to write. But seeing as how you're probably not the only one to react in this way the patch is probably still a good idea.
