Many Kendo UI widgets rely on the internal UserEvents class abstraction to handle user actions like clicking, dragging, tapping, etc. The abstraction in question handles many cross-browser issues, including the delayed click issue present in the iOS platform.

Until the Q3 2015, the tap event was raised based on a mousedown/mouseup (touchstart/touchend) sequence without any significant mouse/finger move in between. While necessary on mobile platforms, the approach caused various troubles and reduced some of the the widgets usability on desktop platforms, where users are used to app successfully responding to mouse clicks even with significant movement (in fact, you can move your mouse freely within the element boundaries). The right thing to do in that case would be the UserEvents to utilize the click event where appropriate (no delay expected).

The change however may lead to unexpected behavior in a variety of scenarios which relied on the tap being triggered by mouseup. To avoid this, we will introduce simple means to restore the previous behavior:

// override the Kendo UI support flag to restore pre-2015 Q3 tap behavior. = function() {
return true;

The widgets affected by this change are the Grid, Gantt, TreeList,Scheduler, Toolbar, and Spreadsheet.
