Welcome to the bayesforever wiki!
We're meeting Tuesdays at 1pm PDT (potentially we may push back to 1:30pm if Cat asks us to)
- Everyone likes project meetings, but also some readings (feelings on readings are more mixed) so keep the project meetings coming!
- Geoff had a cool idea of trying to survey how people use Bayesian in eco-evo, what sorts of priors they use etc..
- Cat may be reading Ecological Forecasting and suggests chapters to read along
- Lizzie may use her time to discuss and work on how to teach her grad class on Bayesian stuff next term
- Lizzie will look into a class or two being on GP models
- 21 September: (1) Geoff updates us on paper surveys we may start each class with (short), then (2) Deirdre updates on her phenology model! (Cat)
- 28 September: Geoff updates (on survival model?)
- 6 October: Cat (or Lizzie if Cat cannot make it? Tell Lizzie if so)
- 13 October: Mira
- 20 October: Faith (Cat attends)
- 3 November: Dan (last Wednesday meeting)
- 9 November: OSPREE retreat! Read Lemoine prior paper and discuss priors sometime during retreat?
- 16 November: Deirdre
- 23 November: Geoff (Cat attends)
- 30 November: Lizzie (or Dan?)
- 7 December: Cat? (Cat attends)
Plan is mainly models with the occasional really good paper or video or such (maybe every 6-8 weeks?)
- Aki's course
- Ben Lambert's book
- How to figure out if you have the data to test your model complexity
- Write our own Metropolis-Hastings sampler (some links here and here)
- Tu/Th at 1pm PDT//4pm EDT (preference for Thursday if possible)

- 27 April -- One last class to review this through 4.1 (so up to but not including Probability density f(x)s). Why? Why read into the middle of this section? The theory with no application is too hard ... so this gives us all a taster application, and later we can read section 4 onward (re-reading a touch of what we'll end on here).
- After that ... Surf's up!
