My internship with RStudio ends this Friday. I'll still be around (in fact, I'll take over as broom maintainer from Dave with the next release), but will have much less time to devote to broom development since I'll be in grad school.

Here's a list of the current long term goals for broom:

  • Standardize columns names (#452, #453, #454, #455)
  • Improve documentation
    • Consistent argument documentation
    • Consistent return documentation
  • Develop additional strict tests in the modeltests package
  • Get the current tidiers to pass the existing strict tests
  • Rewrite the core augment logic
    • Meet specifications of modeltests tests
    • Deal with missing data better
    • Potentially move to separate backend for consistent predict() wrappers (tidymodels/parsnip#41)
  • Use the modelgenerics package (about to renamed)
  • Split broom into small domain specific packages (low priority atm)
    • Documentation on how use these
    • Coordinate with other package that implement tidying methods

We'd also like to be as consistent as possible with other tidymodels packages.
