Agreeably a corner case, but still...

The returned number of rows varies, I suspect uninitialized data.

library(dplyr, warn.conflicts = FALSE)
slice(data_frame(a = 1) %>% select(-a), c(1, 1))
#> # A tibble: 167 × 0
