Carol's Serious Sangria recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 lemon
  • 1 orange
  • 1 lime
  • 1/2 c water
  • 1/2 c sugar
  • 1 bottle red wine (cheap, Spanish)
  • 1 - 2 c carbonated water
  • 2 Tbsp brandy

Instructions

  1. Cut fruit into 1/4" slices and then cut the slices into halves, or quarters for the orange.
  2. Put the end slices in a small saucepan.
  3. Add water and sugar to the saucepan and boil until sugar dissolves.
  4. Cool for 30 min so you don't burn yourself.
  5. Squeeze liquid from fruit ends into syrup.
  6. Discard fruit ends.
  7. Combine syrup and remaining ingredients and refrigerate for at least 24 hours.
  8. Eat the wonderful, wine-soaked fruit as you drink the sangria.
