n places README.md inside /usr/local, causing brew update to fail #158

@coreh

I tried updating homebrew earlier today with the brew update command, and got the following error message:

Your local changes to the following files would be overwritten by merge:

README.md

After looking around a bit, it looks like brew turns /usr/local into a git repo. Running git diff there showed that brew's README.md file was overwritten with node's. I stashed it and brew updated normally, but I started to wonder how node's README.md got there. I then tried changing my current node version with n, and REAME.md was overwritten with node's readme.

We should probably skip this file when installing, as it doesn't make a lot of sense to include it in the root /usr/local dir. I'm also going to report this as a bug to the homebrew folks, because it also doesn't make sense for their readme to be on the root /usr/local dir.

I meet the same problem today.

@chanced

+1, brew got really fussy about it when I tried to upgrade.

@froots

+1 for mild annoyance :-)

PR would be appreciated. I do not have an mac system on which to test this.
