DynamO currently collects exact averages of certain properties by assuming that the properties do not change between events. This is not true for kinetic energies (and associated properties such as temperatures) in systems with gravitational potentials. There should be several improvements made to the code base:

  • Include the parabola's effect on the kinetic energy in the averaging process (Misc plugin).
  • Include the parabola's effect on the momentum averages.
  • Include the parabola's effect on the pressure tensor.
  • Add gravitational potential energy tracking.
  • Update the FAQ on exact averages to indicate that this works for gravitational systems.
