I just wanted to know whether it is possible to use this Trac plugin to connect to other databases than the project database. In the current version I understand that this feature is not supported. We are running some kind of tutorial in our Trac system and it would be awesome to use the plugin to allow the students to perform queries on an example database. For this I would need to specifiy a connection string and add an additional driver I guess...
Allow setting of a user-specified external database. Fixes #1.
This should work with standard sqlite, postgres, and mysql connection strings (as long as your local Trac instance has the requirements for the relevant database backend). I updated the README to show how to configure it.
By the way, I do "pretty linking" of certain well-known columns within the project database (like revisions, tickets, wiki, etc.). If you use an external database and that gets in the way, just select the "raw output" option and it will just render text.
