Update perl 5.19 to latest version #1751
Comments
On the travis-ci machines, perl 5.19 is 5.19.0, which is quite old. Current bleadperl version is 5.19.6. See also travis-ci/travis-ci#1751
@henrikhodne are we planning to automate the upgrade? |
@BanzaiMan Not anytime soon, I think. @joshk would know more, but for now I think this would have to be manually updated in the cookbooks, unless we can deal with the latest Perl being installed on demand, which would increase the build times. |
Automating the update is not easy, happy to take suggestions. |
Perl is now at 5.19.9: http://blog.travis-ci.com/2014-04-28-upcoming-build-environment-updates/ |
Well, 5.19.9 is not the latest one (current one is 5.19.11), but certainly better than 5.19.0, which I was originally objecting. So I leave it at this. Note that the next stable 5.20.0 will appear at the end of this month or so, so you may make a note in your calendar for the next Perl upgrade. |
Perl 5.20 (stable) has been released yesterday. Hopefully you can remove 5.19.x (old development) and upgrade to Perl 5.20. Perl 5.20 Release Announcement Thanks 👍 |
Currently 5.19 maps to 5.19.0, which is relatively old. Currently available version is 5.19.6. As new development versions come every month, updating the bleadperl version should probably be some kind of scheduled item.
