To reproduce

Eshell V5.7.5  (abort with ^G)
1> self().
2> {ok, P} = gen_tcp:listen(12329, [binary, {active,false}]).
3> {ok,Q} = gen_tcp:accept(P).
%% Telnet to the port at this point.
4> exit(out).
** exception exit: out
5> self().

Expected behaviour

The socket is closed at process exit (which can be observed in that it makes telnet terminate).

Observed behaviour

The socket survives process exit (telnet is oblivious of the process's demise).
