Consider hiding the selection "box" over these areas when the user makes a selection, if this is possible. Have a look at these examples, that normally should be hidden upon user click:

Thanks

Since that's pretty easy to see, is there a chance it will be given some more attention for the final release?
thanks

which browser were you using

I don't believe that's possible through CSS? Just a browser implementation (usually on Windows). Correct me if I am wrong though.

Shouldn't this be fixable with the following?

a {
   outline: 0;
}

This outline is an accessibility feature. It is less pronounced in WebKit based browsers IIRC. It can be removed via CSS, but new new alternate styling should be introduced. See: Removing The Dotted Outline, http://outlinenone.com/

I've just tested this again, in IE8 and Firefox 10 (win machine). Agree, this is a feature, but in some cases it just doesnt look with the rest of the page, especially when having a navbar.
How about there could be an option where instead of the dotted outline, the blue radial box appeared when faving focus (like the one in the textarea)?

Agreed :)

Yup, something along those lines. Now someone/we need(s) to implement it.

I'm glad there's support for this :)
I believe it will make TB2 better looking, at least when talking about split buttons.

Possible implementation: add rule that sets the "a outline" as in the message above, and place the same blue radial box as in the textarea.

Also, this twitter#1220 ties with the topic. So, for some elements like the menu, hide the dotted lines, while for some others, we should implement the blue radial box.

We won't be removing the outline, and we won't be providing alternate styles for it at this time. Not worth the headache of removing it for everyone and then only enabling it via CSS3 (if you want the box-shadow effect from form inputs), an effect that only works in some browsers.
