Accordion behaviour in collapsed navbar #5606

When the navbar menu collapses, it tucks away all nice, but when expanded it uses an exploded view. This is fine if there aren't a lot of options but otherwise destroys the point of saving screen real estate. When collapsed, I would like the navbar dropdown menu to behave like an accordion component.

This was solved in a closed ticket. It was tagged with JS and had a jsfiddle but it turned out to be a css issue. Old issue: #3184

JSFiddle with fix:

I experienced the same issue from the previous issue. Using 2.1.1 the issue still remains. Using the JSFiddle I was able to resolve using the lines at the very bottom starting with the @media section

@media (max-width:979px) { ... }

and followed by the @media section

@media (min-width:980px) { ... }

Approx 120 lines not minified for other having the same issue.

I had to overwrite these lines in the bootstrap responsive css, as using it in a separate file loaded after did not work out-of-the-box. I suppose a more line-by-line comparison and application of important tags could resolve this but I was unable at first attempt.

I've explained the exact difference in bootstrap-responsive.css and the html to make this fix here:

This JS fiddle contains the better fix (menu starts collapsed):

I'm not sure what commit it was that fixed this but the issue can be closed now.
