Second, I fixed a bug in how MX's were being generated. For some reason if I had a line like $ORIGIN oregonstate.edu. mail MX 5 relay.oregonstate.edu The output of dig would be: dig @ns-dev.nws.oregonstate.edu oregonstate.edu MX oregonstate.edu. 999 IN MX 5 relay.oregonstate.edu.oregonstate.edu. It seemed like it was inferring ORIGIN with the servers name. Not sure if it is *supposed* to do that. Anyways, having an absolute origin seems to have fixed things (still need to test more). The line now looks like: $ORIGIN . oregonstate.edu MX 5 relay.oregonstate.edu
