By adding libotr (https://bugs.otr.im/lib/libotr/tree/master) and a few modifications to the GUI it would be possible to use OTR instead of Telegrams native secret chats.

This would not be compatible with the official client of course, but would make it possible to use an implementation that is a bit more reviewed and trustworthy.
