I was looking at the definition of \s# fields today to find the maximum value of #. It didn't seem to be defined in the \s# section, nor in the general section about # values.

If the Paratext's usfm.sty is what defines the max. value, then it would seem that that should be mentioned in the section about # values, and that the file should be included as part of the standard?

Although it isn't stated, I read the hash (#) to represent a single digit, as it does in other programs where it is used as a representation of a digit (ms Excel.) Which suggests a the # could represent (0-9). This is ample room for styling, with the possible exception of tables, which could conceivably have more than 10 columns.
