Proposal

  • Deprecate xdc and fdc from the supported @style attributes list for <char> within <note>. Recommend general purpose use of <char @style="dc"> wherever DC-only content is being marked.

Note: Deprecating does not remove the @style attribute values from the USX schema, but its use is strongly discouraged.

This is the USX companion to USFM 3.0 proposal "Deprecate cross reference and footnote DC content markers (\xdc …\xdc_; \fdc …\fdc_)". See: ubsicap/usfm#19 for detail.

Example

<note caller="-" style="x">
  <char style="xo">7.34: </char>
  <char style="xt">Jr 16.9; 25.10;
    <char style="dc">Ba 2.23;</char>Rev 18.23.
  </char>
</note>
