Like Quicktime on Mac OS, DirectShow seems to be deprecated on Windows (starting with Vista I guess).
Like AVFoundation on Mac OS, there is MediaFoundation on Windows to work with media (and replace DirectShow).

So I guess it's time to build some MediaFoundation plugin for Windows...

afaik, MediaFoundation is even more tied to DirectX than DirectShow, which makes it virtually unusable in openGL applications.

(but i'm not very knowledgable when it comes to W32... in any case, i would welcome such a plugin)

I was thinking about such a plugin because I can't build videoDS on win7
due to lots of weird errors.

I'll look at the API when I'll have time to see how such a plugin will be
feasible.

currently i'm working on new versions of filmDS and videoDS, that do not require microsoft'sATL, and thus should be compilable withmingw (and hopefully they should be easier to compile on MSVC as well: not requiring WinDDK, WindowsSDK and/or DiretcX-SDK)

ho cool !
I'll wait for you then !
I was thinking DS was deprecated, but, if not, let's use it again.

i think DS is deprecated, but microsoft has another policy to deal with deprecated stuff than apple.

apart from that, it might take a while to get the new code running :-(

i've added a videoVIDS plugin, that does DirectShow based capturing and is compilable on mingw64 (though with some dirty hacks due to libtool).

not so much luck with filmDS yet.
