if the page already exists and somehow the user accidentally tries to add the page again with the same name, fitnesse needs to show a confirmation that it will overwrite the existing one. This should prevent accidental overwrites

Can you walk us through the scenario? If the page already exists, the wiki
should load the page. Are you creating pages using rest calls?

I am using the fitnesse webpage
with this dir structure:
|- SuiteMain
|- TestOne (mytest) <- with some test in the body already
|- TestTwo

From SuiteMain, click on add suite tab and create one called TestOne (update the body or add tags to this new one) and save. You will notice that the previous suiteOne gets overwritten by this newly created suiteOne.

That should not be the case. I would expect an error to show up.
