Hello.
In legacy mode, persistence works well because the file /syslinux.cfg has been modified with the addition of the "persistent" parameter:
"append initrd=/casper/initrd.lz file=/cdrom/preseed/ubuntu.seed boot=casper only-ubiquity quiet splash --- persistent"

However, in EFI mode, this file is not used. This is the /boot/grub/grub.cfg file that is used! This file is not modified at all!. I propose to add the following lines.

menuentry "Try Ubuntu without installing but with persistence " {
set gfxpayload=keep
linux /casper/vmlinuz file=/cdrom/preseed/ubuntu.seed boot=casper quiet splash persistent ---
initrd /casper/initrd.lz
}

This will allow the end user to choose between persistent sessions and other standards.

Thank you.
