Problem with IR learning

Description

Trying to IR learn from a Frontier DVR remote (same as a Verizon DVR). Get to the hub showing green but when I send the command from the remote I get two red blinks instead of green. I have learned commands from this remote to the Harmony Elite, plus many other learning remotes in the past. I can't see that the IR commands from this remote can be anything different from other IR devices. In addition to the Frontier branding on the DVR it also shows Arris VMS 1100.

How to Reproduce

1. Create Button
2. Start Learning
3. Point original remote to the Hub and press button on original remote
4. Getting 2 red blinks on hub signifying failed learn.

Expected behavior

Should get green blinks signifying code was learned. Also the code should appear and allowed to be saved which does not happen.

It turns out the remote for my Frontier uses what called "Toggle Bit" codes. It has something to do with preventing duplicate codes. At the present time R2 can NOT learn ANY Toggle Bit codes! I read somewhere that feature will be added in the future but no time frame has been given. The best I've done so far is to go to https://irdb.globalcache.com/Home/Database and look up Arris and maybe some of the code sets will work for you.

Toggle bit support for RC-5 and RC-6 IR protocols is currently in BETA testing and will be included in the next public release (#126).

However, it seems like some Arris devices are using a 32 bit RCMM IR protocol, also known as Nokia32. The 32 bit variant is the only one using a toggle bit.
Cross checking with the power toggle codes from the above mentioned irdb site and feeding them into IRScrutinizer, confirmed it. They didn't have the VIP5202 model, so I checked with VIP5602. For this model they specify 2 codes, which means toggle codes. (Interestingly the VIP4302 uses a simple NEC protocol).

I'll enhance toggle support for RCMM 32 bit codes and try to include it in the next release.
Learning is not affected, the toggle support applies to sending and toggles the required bit.

What requires a bit more time is to support toggle PRONTO codes (code1 and code2) in the web-configurator. This is required for downloaded codesets, for example from irdb.

Description
Got up this morning and was going to set up the remote. I noticed there was an update to 1.5.2 and now the IR Learning is not working. The code will not appear in the box.

Last night, I was able to get the codes to appear in the box and save the button. It should also be noted that this is from the same remote which was working last night. Only difference is the update to 1.5.2

I am trying to get my TiVo Edge integrated into this remote.

How to Reproduce
Start the Configurator
Tap on Remotes
Tap on the Big + sign
Select Create Blank
Entered: TiVo_Edge_Remote
Tap on Edit by IR Data Set
Enter a Button Name in the next window
Tap on Add Custom Button
Tap on Start Learning
Point the remote at the base and tap on the button you are trying to map
The YIO Remote Dock will light up but no code appears in the IR Code Box
So no IR Learning ability after update

IR Learning to function when trying to add a button

@spamoni4 IR learning hasn't changed in 1.5.2 and still works the same.
Please make sure that the green LED is lit after starting IR learning in the web-configurator.
If a code is successfully detected it will blink green and stop. If the dock blinks red, then the code couldn't be identified. Sometimes it works when trying multiple times, but there are also codes and IR protocols which cannot be learned.
Once a code is shown in the input field, learning is no longer active and needs to be started again.

I finally got it to work. The light is green and then blinks red. But after a couple of tries, it started working sporadically. I then linked to the configurator via the IP and it worked much better. Devices have been learned. Now trying to figure out activities

Status update: toggle support for RCMM 32 bit codes is implemented and will be included in the next release. Unfortunately we don't have any devices to test with and kindly ask for feedback when it's released.

I have an Arris DVR from Frontier Cable which I believe uses the RCMM 32 bit code you referenced and at the current release it cannot be learned. Status update: another BETA version has been released and we are getting close to a public release.

• New toggle logic is active by default and no longer a preview feature.
• Learning feature is still the same. Since we couldn't find any RCMM devices I could not verify the IR learning of the RCMM protocol.
  RC-5 and RC-6 are working.
• In case the Frontier DVR remote (or any other) cannot be learned, but 2 PRONTO codes are available per command, then they can be used with the new toggle logic.
  • PRONTO codes can be toggled with a | devider: <CODE1> | <CODE2>
    Example:
