SYNQ version 0.2.2 beta for Android is live.

This version contains some bug-fixes and some more quality of life additions to the features that were introduced in the previous release.

What's new?

  • Confirm before forwarding message to a chat group.

  • Saved messages are now identifiable by an icon.

  • Non-expired messages that have been saved can now be deleted.

  • Saved messages that have expired are now editable. These messages can be loaded into the Editor screen but will be sent as a new message since editing expired messages is not possible.

  • Added 'Load last draft' snack-bar to Editor Screen if the last Editor session was successful (message posted). If unsuccessful the Editor Screen will still display the 'Load draft' modal dialog.

  • Modified 'Save' message action to context dependent 'Save' or 'Delete' message action.

  • Fixed issue where the 'User header' was not being displayed properly (misaligned avatar and username/address).

  • Fixed the issue where replied to messages were not rendered correctly when in selection mode.

  • Fixed issue where interactive components were still interactive in selection mode, causing the Image Gallery, User Info screen or Save/Delete dialog to be displayed when tapping on such a component while selecting messages.

  • Message selector snack-bar is now a floating snack-bar and will not affect the chat messages list. The selector will be displayed at the top of the list unless the user has scrolled all the way to the top, in which case the snack-bar will be displayed at the bottom.

  • Modified all Chat Messages Tab snack-bar styles. This should solve most if not all remaining 'jumpy' chat messages issues.

Installation notes:

Download the file 'synq.apk' to your Android device, find the downloaded file (most likely in your Downloads folder) and tap on it to install.
If your device has Google Play Protect enabled you will get a warning that this application is from an unknown source, this is because you're not installing the app from the Google Play Store. You will be offered the option to install the app anyway, choose that option if you want to use this app.

SYNQ 0.2.2 beta release notes

  • Chat Groups Tab:

    • Before forwarding a message to a chat group, the user will be presented with at confirmation dialog. This in order to ensure that the user really intends to forward the message to that group and did not tap on the wrong group item by accident.

  • Chat Messages Tab:

    • Modified the selector snack-bar, it is now a floating snack-bar and will no longer push the chat messages up/down when it gets enabled/disabled. When the list is at the very top, the selector snack-bar gets displayed at the bottom of the list in order to ensure that the user will always be able to select the top message, otherwise the selector snack-bar gets displayed at the bottom of the list in order to ensure that the floating buttons are always visible.

  • Chat Bubble:

    • Fixed issue where the 'User header' was not being displayed properly with a misaligned avatar and username/address.

    • Fixed the issue where replied to messages were not rendered correctly when in selection mode.

    • Saved messages will now have a 'Save' icon next to the 'Expand' message action icon in order to better inform the user which messages have already been saved.

    • Non-expired messages that have been saved can now be deleted, the user doesn't have to wait for them to expire in order to delete them.

    • Message actions will display save or delete message icon depending on whether message was already saved or not.

    • Allow saved but expired messages by currently selected account to be edited, but show an alert informing the user that the message will be posted as a new message since it's not possible to edit an expired message.

    • Reduced the size of the 'History' icon a bit.

    • Fixed issue where interactive components were still interactive in selection mode, causing the Image Gallery, User Info screen or Save/Delete dialog to be displayed when tapping on such a component while selecting messages.

  • Editor Screen:

    • Added 'Load last saved draft' snack-bar. This snack-bar will be shown for 3 seconds at the top of the Editor Screen, but only if the previous Editor session was closed successfully. If the last Editor session was closed without a successful message post the next session will still open with a modal dialog offering the user to load the last draft into the Editor.

  • Chat Messages Tab:

    • Modified all snack-bar styles. This should solve most if not all remaining 'jumpy' chat messages issues.
