The UP Squared has three connectors for GPIO/peripherals:
- m10 header
- HAT connector: pin-compatible with Raspberry Pi Pin position
- MCU connector: extra GPIO/peripheral from the integrated STM32F103C8 MCU
The M10 header has one UART (max 3Mbaud) and one USB 2.0 port available through an adapter cable
http://up-shop.org/up-peripherals/110-usb-20-pin-header-cable.html (only one of the two ports of the adapter can work with UP Xtreme)
- 2x Fintech F81801 RS232/422/485
- 12V, GND
- 3xPCIe x1
- 2x PCIe x1 or USB3.0
- 2xUSB2.0
Each of the HAT pins has a dual function, a standard GPIO in/out mode, and a function mode.
On the board start, all the pin are set in function mode by default but that can be changed within the bios menu see 40-pin multi-function I/O header
