Problem statement
Currently, our accessibility tests for each USWDS component provide assurance that the components pass WCAG 2.1 AA standards, but how components perform has not been compiled and organized into a single document to support design system selection processes and decision-making.
Solution
Publish an Accessibility Conformance Report (ACR), based on the Voluntary Product Accessibility Template (VPAT) for all USWDS components that have been audited for accessibility. ACRs are essential for proving accessibility in procurement, enabling decision-makers to easily compare accessibility features and make informed decisions about selecting a design system. Currently, our accessibility tests for each component provide assurance that the components pass WCAG 2.1 AA standards, but how components perform has not been compiled and organized into a single document for easier reference.
The ACR will also identify USWDS components that could be improved, and why.
