For automated testing we need id's for our (clickable) components, the menu item lacks this feature..

Are you using test bench for automated testing? If so, you can use selectors other than Id selectors.

We use Selenium directly and of course we can use e.g. xPath selectors but if the menu changes we need to adapt the tests. Is there a reason why the menu item doesn't has a debug id? every component has one.
