Welcome to the p5.serialport wiki!

Running p5.serialserver manually:

To run the serial server manually, you'll need to install Node.js. To be safe, get this version:

https://nodejs.org/en/blog/release/v0.12.7/

Then install the p5.serialserver node library by opening up "terminal" and typing:

sudo npm -g install p5.serialport

(You'll have to enter your password)

Then to run the server you can type:

p5serial

and the server should be running.

If for some reason you aren't able to install p5.serialport via "sudo" then you can just install it locally:

npm install p5.serialport

and then to run it:

cd node_modules/p5.serialserver/

./startserver.js
