The JSSH extension is one option for Vapir-Firefox to communicate with Firefox. MozRepl is preferred, though. JSSH is the same extension that Firewatir uses.

JSSH is no longer maintained and will not work with any version of Firefox since Firefox 4. It is also considerably slower than MozRepl. It also must be compiled for each combination of operating system and Firefox version.
