I am currently studying Linux system administration and my goal is to transition into cybersecurity in the future. Right now, I am focusing on building my own lab environment, practicing basic networking, and learning threat analysis.
I prefer to build my configs and setups by myself, using official documentation, web research, and AI tools mostly to find solutions to errors or optimize things.
OS: Arch Linux, Ubuntu Server, Debian. I also have some basic experience with Kali Linux and Linux Mint. Virtualization and hardware: Proxmox VE (setting up local nodes) and MikroTik routers (RouterOS config, local subnets, custom DHCP/DNS routing). Containers: Docker and Docker Compose (writing basic yaml files, limiting CPU and memory usage for containers). Cybersecurity things: Setting up AdGuard Home for local DNS filtering, running a Cowrie Honeypot in docker to see real-world automated attacks and logs. Scripting: Bash scripts for log parsing and text processing (using grep, awk, sed, jq to extract info from logs).
Rebuilding my homelab setup on a clean Proxmox VE installation from scratch right now. Writing a simple background Bash script that filters and processes raw JSON logs from my honeypot container to collect attacker data without duplicates. Setting and upgrading cowrie honeypot, to manage all the attaker logs from the telegram bot.
